FAMILY

Kianga

Our family consists of 3 furry creatures who are our morning alarm clocks, window smudgers, drink spillers, dinner bell ringers, watchdogs, escape artists, and small item thieves. These three kids never fail to drive us insane, but they also never fail to put a smile on our faces. They are all of the feline species and their names are Kianga (Swahili for Sunshine), Kahli (Swahili for Lots of Energy), and Jafari (Swahili for Dignity).

I rescued Kianga and Kahli when they were just 5 weeks old. They were found abandoned under a blackberry bush. Kianga is our laid-back, sit-back-n-watch, go-with-the-flow girl. She welcomes visitors as soon as they come in the door and she loves her one-on-one time with her mom.

Kahli

Kahli is quite the opposite of Kianga. Full of energy, she is our outspoken girl who is sure to voice herself when not happy. However, as soon as the doorbell rings she is quiet as a mouse and nowhere to be seen until our visitors have settled in for a while. She is a daddy's girl and loves to snuggle with him at bedtime.

Due to Kahli's extensive energy, I thought (to Kevin's dismay) a new kitten would give Kahli a good playmate. In February of 2007, we adopted Jafari who was then just 10 weeks old and in the prime of his kitten escapades. Kahli and Kianga seem at times overwhelmed by his jumping, swatting, and chasing but we occassionally catch them giving him a motherly kiss or snuggled up with him on the same piece of furniture.

Jafari

My love for animals will ensure that furry creatures are always bringing joy to our family!
